Sakura Matsuri day 2
Here is another batch of pictures - this time of my Rei Hino fuku.
I may have mentioned that I was selected to perform in the Cosplay Fashion Show (hosted by Uncle Yo), which was super exciting since it was my first time. Here is a picture I found in the Brooklyn Botanic Garden’s official flickr.

Since I’m in the BBG Cosplay Fashion Show, I can’t really wear my Rei fuku until the performance.. they want the costumes to all be a ‘surprise’ for the audience. So for the first day I decided to bust out the old Mars fuku.

Just about done! Square knot.. eh.. ish
Well, I guess that is it.. I can’t think of anything else at the moment. Maybe more accurate shoes… for now I’m just going to wear some generic Mary Jane style shoes I found at DSW a while ago just to go with some suit I had.

Almost done!
So I’ve made the shirt more fitted,hemmed it and done. I like how it’s the perfect length so I don’t need to tuck it into the skirt, yet it wont poke out under the vest.
I removed seven inches from the skirt and hemmed it using the blind stitch on my sewing machine. You can only see it if you look closely ^_^. Of course, you cannot see it all in this far away picture… but...

Tri Art Acrylics - Pluto staff update
I think my Pluto staff came out pretty nice, my friend did a good job considering the small amount of time he spent making it. For this year at Otakon, I want to ‘finish’ the staff with details, perhaps sanding it smoother, etc. While I was at CAA this weekend I came across the Tri-Art booth. The woman, Rheni Tauchid, who was manning(hah?) the booth was super nice and very informative....

Some progress.. fold, iron, fold, and repeat.
Pleated skirts are so daunting… repetitive.. they’re easy to make but I really hate them. Anyway, I think this came out much nicer than my Ai Enma skirt since I used 1.5 inch pleats rather than 1 inch like on the Hell Girl fuku. Though, I do think 1 inch is more accurate for the Hell Girl anime/manga anyway.

Sailor Collar Tutorial Time!
Follow these step by step pictures to make a great collar for any cosplay. This is for my Rei Hino summer uniform.
You need two pieces of fabric, one cut into a V and one cut into a C. The exact pattern and measurements will depend upon the neck opening on your shirt. One side should have interfacing… I used a thin iron on variety.

Super Sailor Pluto bun with real hair!
So, I used the Conair Bun Maker kit which is available at any drugstore for around 5 bucks. It comes with a ponytail band, four bobby pins, and a ‘bun maker’ that you wrap your hair around. Sailor Moon/Pluto/Mercury Boots
You will need:
Boots
Ruler, marker(or pen, pencil, whatever), foam board (or white pvc material), glue gun/glue, scissors.
If you use foam board, you’ll need latex paint to give it the pvc texture to match your boots(assuming you bought patent/pvc boots)

Sailor Scout Glove Rolls.
Hopefully this is easy to follow. It actually wasn’t difficult at all. I suggest stretchy fabric.. 4 way stretch lycra.
Start with a piece of fabric about 7 inches wide, fold it in half.. then sew it shut (raw end) so that you have three inches.
Divide the fabric into 3 sections.
Sew along those lines, and then sew up one end leaving maybe 1/4 or 1/2 an inch for seam allowance....
